Analysts: the iPhone 14 Pro will have a 48-megapixel camera

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple plans to add a 48-megapixel camera module to the next iPhone Pro lineup, with a periscope lens expected in 2023.

MacRumors was able to obtain an analytical summary from TF International Securities. In it, Ming-Chi Kuo talked about the fact that Apple is preparing major updates to the camera modules of smartphones in the iPhone Pro line. According to him, innovations will appear in the next couple of years.

It is noteworthy that Ming-Chi Kuo did not provide new information, but once again confirmed his past analytical notes. A 48-megapixel main camera module is expected to be added, which will allow video recording in 8K format. He also claims that these videos can be watched on the upcoming VR headset from Cupertinians.

In addition, Kuo claims that the new camera module will be able to take photos at both 48 pixels and 12 pixels. This will help to achieve the technology of pixel combining. A similar function is already used in smartphones Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. On the iPhone, the 48-megapixel mode will shoot in bright light, and the 12-megapixel mode in low light, which will preserve the quality of the images.

Kuo also expressed confidence that Apple will add a periscope lens to its smartphones by 2023. This lens design will allow you to increase the optical zoom while maintaining the compactness of the device. For example, the Huawei P40 Pro + is equipped with a periscope lens with 10x optical zoom capability, while the iPhone 13 Pro is limited to 3x optical zoom.
