Rostec creates a center for the restoration of aircraft engines

The 218th Aircraft Repair Plant of the United Engine Corporation launched a project to create a center of specialization "Remanufacturing parts-assembly units (DSE)", which will quadruple the number of remanufactured parts for aircraft engines.

The center will increase the efficiency of organizing aircraft engine repairs at the corporation's production sites by expanding the range of parts and spare parts. This will reduce the burden on manufacturers and the cost of repairs, as well as speed up repairs.

“Completion of the construction of the new center is scheduled for 2024. It will be equipped with modern equipment and will increase the number of parts to be restored from 15,000 to 60,000 per year,” said Dmitry Vinogradov, Deputy General Director – Managing Director of JSC 218 ARZ.

One of the main risks in the organization of timely aircraft repair is a delay in the supply of components. Some DSE positions have long been discontinued, but the units and engines with which they are equipped continue to be used. The development of repair competencies for the restoration of DSE will reduce the time to fulfill orders, expand the range of repaired products and reduce production costs.

At the moment, the United Engine Corporation has developed 170 technical processes for the restoration of parts - assembly units for six types of gas turbine engines. They are used in their in-line repair, which reduces the time and cost of it.
