The media reported that several Russian game development studios promptly removed many employees with their families from the country. Media sources did not disclose the names of the companies, but explained that these were not isolated cases, and the number of employees who left continues to increase.

The media explained that in some cases, companies bought entire charter flights for employees and their families.

Market representatives explained that two-thirds of game studio employees do not have a specialized higher education. These are artists, designers, graphic specialists, testers, support experts who are not formally IT specialists and developers. They do not fall under the deferment from the Ministry of Digital Development for IT specialists in the current conditions.

Experts told the media that even if the game studio is accredited by the Ministry of Digital Development as an IT company, most employees of such companies do not and will not have the opportunity to receive a deferment. They added that this also applies to all those who worked remotely in foreign companies, as well as under individual entrepreneurs and in the self-employed mode. According to experts, in the current situation there will be no operational support for the gaming industry, as is done with specialized IT companies. Many game studios have left the Russian market since the end of March, while the unemployed artists and designers went abroad in the summer or tried to find new work in local companies and studios.

Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Development announced that only IT specialists, communications and media specialists with specialized higher education will receive a deferment from partial mobilization.
