Only the iPhone 14 Pro Max will receive the Apple A16 Bionic, the other three models will be equipped with the old platform

Today, Chinese sources have announced that only one model from the upcoming iPhone 14 series will be based on Apple's top-of-the-line A16 Bionic single-chip system.

The reason Apple allegedly made this decision is because next year the stock of the 4nm Apple A16 Bionic platforms will only account for a third of the stock of the Apple A15 Bionic SoC.

The internal codename for the Apple A16 Bionic platform is Crete, and the codename for the Apple A15 Bionic is Ellis. The source adds that next year only the iPhone 14 Pro Max will receive the Apple A16 Bionic, while the iPhone 14 Pro and two younger models will be based on the Apple A15 Bionic.

It is also reported that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will receive new screens with a diagonal of 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively, with a hole for the front camera, while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will be equipped with old screens with bangs.

The source confirms that due to poor sales, Apple canceled the 5.4-inch iPhone model in 2022.
