Meta* is testing private worlds for its social VR platform

Meta* has begun testing private virtual worlds for its social VR platform. It is known that with the help of such worlds users will be able to create spaces for communication with friends or for thematic meetings.

In addition to open worlds, Meta* plans to introduce private worlds. For example, the user will be able to create a separate space for himself and his friends. It will be possible to enter it only by special invitation. Also, the creator of such a VR world will have the opportunity to fully customize the space and fill it with their own content. In private worlds, there will be a limit of 150 invited participants, and 25 users will be able to connect to the session at the same time.

In a blog post, the company said that private worlds would be useful for chatting with friends, holding themed meetings, closed clubs, or meetings between bloggers and subscribers. In this case, the creator of the world will have full control over the list of all guests. The journalists compared the upcoming update of the Meta* VR platform with Discord servers, but only in the virtual space.

The company is now conducting closed alpha testing, for which it has selected a small group of participants. Meta* plans to receive feedback on the operation of private virtual worlds, design and ease of moderation. After the test, the company will make decisions about the global launch.
