GitLab, at the request of the DMCA, blocked the repository with an add-on for bypassing Paywall

GitLab has blocked the BPC (Bypass Paywalls Clean) project repository. It is a browser add-on for providing access to materials through a paid subscription.

GitLab explained its actions by incoming complaints of violation of the addition to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) in force in the United States. However, in this case, its use is controversial, since the sites themselves with a paywall open access to their materials to search engines and social networks for indexing. Usually, to bypass the protection, it is enough to block some scripts and clear cookies.

Now developers can transfer the project to another Git hosting. Previously, their add-on was removed from the Mozilla catalog. You can update the extension manually from the website.
