Honor unveiled the Honor Magic V today at a big launch in China, its first foldable smartphone with a flexible screen on the inside and a large screen on the outside.
In its form factor, the Honor Magic V is becoming a competitor for models such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3, Xiaomi Mix Fold and Oppo Find N.
During the presentation, the novelty was compared with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and iPad, pointing out its superiority. So, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is noticeably thicker and has a large gap at the fold, while iPad mini loses in terms of resolution, brightness, image refresh rate.
The external screen is not inferior in characteristics to conventional flagships - OLED with a diagonal of 6.45 inches is curved at the edges, the resolution is 2560 x 1080 pixels, the image refresh rate is supported - 120 Hz.
The internal flex has a diagonal 7.9-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2272 x 1984 pixels, a pixel density of 381 ppi and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. As the manufacturer promises, the smartphone should withstand about 200 thousand folding cycles.
The main camera of the smartphone is triple. It combines three modules with a resolution of 50 megapixels each, including the main one with an aperture of f / 1.9 and an ultra wide-angle with an aperture of f / 2.2. There are as many as two “front-facing” cameras - a 42-megapixel module is embedded in the inner and outer screens.
The hardware base is the flagship SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The smartphone runs Android 12 with a new proprietary interface MagicUI 6.
The dual cell battery has a capacity of 4750 mAh and supports 66W charging. The smartphone can be charged up to 50% in 15 minutes. The fingerprint scanner is located in the side power button. Dimensions are 160.4 mm x 72.7 mm x 14.3 mm, the device weighs 293 grams. When opened, the smartphone measures 160.4 x 141.1 x 6.7 mm.
Available in three colors - silver, glossy black and orange with a leather look.
Acceptance of pre-orders will begin today, and open sales will start on January 18th. The price is $ 1,569 for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal flash storage, as well as $ 1,726 for the version with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal flash storage.
