In Greece, one of those involved in the murder of the killer Alexander Solonik, also known as "Sasha the Macedonian", was detained, Kathimerini reports.

Greek police detained a 48-year-old Greek citizen at Macedonia International Airport in Thessaloniki. It is specified that he received citizenship by arriving from Georgia.

The man arrived at the airport by plane flying from Cyprus.

Aleksandr Solonik, a member of the Kurgan criminal gang and hired killer, also known as "Sasha the Makedonsky", was a repeat offender, one of whose most famous crimes was his escape from the SIZO No. 1 of Moscow "Matrosskaya Tishina".

According to the investigation, his comrades-in-arms managed to inject their own man into the prison as a convoy, who opened Solonik's cell at night, after which they together went down from the roof with the help of previously prepared climbing equipment.

Solonik was killed on January 31, 1997 in the Athenian suburb of Varibobi, along with the Russian model Svetlana Kotova who came to him.
