The number of detainees in Kazakhstan's Shymkent exceeded 3.5 thousand people

The number of detainees in the Kazakh city of Shymkent in connection with the riots has increased and amounted to more than 3.5 thousand people. This was reported by the local TV channel Otyrar.kz with reference to the head of the commandant's office of the city, Yeraly Zhumakhanbetov.

“Since the riots, 3,520 citizens have been brought to the police. To date, 366 citizens have been brought to administrative responsibility. With regard to 271 of them, decisions were made to arrest, 40 were fined and 55 were issued warnings,” he said.

The TV channel notes that, despite the fact that the situation in the city has been stabilized, there is a round-the-clock duty at the checkpoints at the entrance and exit from the city, and the security of strategically important objects has also been strengthened.

Earlier it was reported that in the city of Shymkent in southern Kazakhstan, 2,716 people were detained for participating in protests.
