The Sputnik M vaccine for adolescents will go into civilian circulation next week, Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“The Ministry of Health and we treat control in the most severe way, therefore not two, but a number of structures control the vaccine. We expect it to go into civilian circulation next week,” he said.

On November 24, the Russian Ministry of Health registered the Sputnik M coronavirus vaccine, which will be used to prevent infection in adolescents aged 12 to 17 years. The vaccine consists of two components that are administered 21 days apart.

Earlier it was reported that in the future children under two years of age will also be vaccinated against coronavirus, but this will happen in stages, after all clinical trials have been completed. This was told by the virologist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Gorelov.

Russia became the first country in the world to register a vaccine against COVID-19. The drug was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology together with the Russian Direct Investment Fund and was named Sputnik V. Subsequently, the vaccines EpiVacCorona, KoviVac and Sputnik Light were registered.
