But "omicron" is now actively replacing its predecessor - the "delta" strain.

“In Moscow and St. Petersburg, the vast majority of new cases should already be caused by the omicron. Most likely, other million-plus cities will also catch up,” Kryuchkov shared his opinion. In the coming weeks, studies by Russian scientists will confirm this assumption.

On the air of Sputnik radio, the immunologist recalled that the new version of SARS-CoV-2 is more contagious, but less pathogenic.
