The erosion of the slope of the embankment of a 50-meter section of the road near the village of Vzmorye occurred on the morning of January 14 due to a sea storm, the press service of the Federal Road Agency said. Traffic on the A-393 highway (from 13 to 128 km) has been closed since January 12 due to adverse weather conditions.

“On behalf of the FKU DSD Far East, the road services promptly began to eliminate the consequences of the emergency: the slopes of the subgrade are being strengthened with rubble and rock, 10 pieces of equipment are working,” the road agency said.

A day earlier, a state of emergency was introduced in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to clear roads due to the cyclone. The city received 34% of the average monthly rainfall.
