The outbreak of COVID-19 began in an American prison where a Russian pilot is being held

The administration of the Danbury prison in the US state of Connecticut, which holds Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko, has announced the introduction of a "red" (highest) level of epidemiological danger due to the spread of the omicron coronavirus strain. This is reported by TASS with reference to his wife Victoria.

“The prison has a “red” level of danger. Konstantin says that there are a lot of cases of this new version of the coronavirus (the Omicron strain - TASS note). Prisoners sit in cells, they are not allowed to go anywhere. Medical assistance is not provided properly,” she said, adding that there are only three levels: “green”, “yellow” and “red”.

She noted that before the "red" level of danger in the prison, "yellow" was in effect, when prisoners were allowed to eat in the canteen. Now food is brought to the cells. In addition, walks in the yard have been cancelled.

Victoria added that Konstantin feels well. However, according to her, the prison undermined her husband's health - he does not go out in the fresh air for months.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Washington, in response to the call of the head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price, to release two Americans convicted in Russia, Paul Whelan and Trevor Reed, recalled the citizens of the Russian Federation Konstantin Yaroshenko, Viktor Bout and Roman Seleznev held in American prisons.
