Nationwide protests are planned around the country on Wednesday, as nurses and midwives request higher pay.
Nurses will not only protest in Warsaw. Several hundred people will also gather in front of the Congress Centre in Katowice, which is currently hosting the European Economic Congress.
“It's the only argument to encourage young people to the profession,” said Longina Kaczmarska, the head of the Warsaw chapter of the Association of Nurses and Midwives, told Polish Radio.
According to HR consultants Sedlak & Sedlak, nurses in Poland earn an average of PLN 2,700 gross (EUR 675, USD 725) per month.
