Yeltsin's personal photographer passed away

Died Dmitry Donskoy, who from 1991 to 1997 was the personal photographer of the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin. Donskoy was 85 years old. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“Dmitry died after an illness. In October last year, he celebrated his 85th birthday, ”said the photographer’s relatives.

Sergey Guneev, a colleague of Donskoy, noted in an interview with the agency that before working with Yeltsin, he was one of the best sports photojournalists in the country.

“He had a lot of shots that became the standards of sports journalism, completely different: hockey, equestrian sports, chess, and many others. We worked together at many Olympics. He was the first to apply a special zooming technique during shooting, which gave the effect of rays on the photo. This is really a real master,” said Guneev.

He noted that, as a photographer for the president, Donskoy took pictures not only of the "official", but also of the Yeltsin family on vacation, in an informal setting - "he could just call, come, communicate easily."

Earlier, the Latvian actor Arnis Licitis died at the age of 76.
