The Russian automotive group Sollers is discussing a large-scale partnership in Russia with the Chinese Chery, Interfax reports with reference to the press service of the Russian company.

Specific parameters of cooperation are planned to be formed by mid-2022. The partnership between Sollers and Chery will include "not only the production of cars, but also the development of new technologies in the field of electric transport, promising modules and materials for the automotive industry," the agency quotes the words of a Sollers representative.

Following the talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the press secretary of the head of the Russian state, Dmitry Peskov, said that, among other things, the topic of joint production of cars by Sollers and Chery companies on the basis of the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant was discussed, TASS reports.

The Sollers group includes UAZ, Zavolzhsky Motor Plant, as well as joint ventures with foreign automakers Ford and Mazda - Ford Sollers and Mazda Sollers.

Earlier, the marketing and product director of UAZ, a member of the Sollers group, said that within five years all models of the Russian SUV will receive electric versions.
