Fraudsters use QR codes to scam

Attackers have learned to gain access to funds using QR codes, which contain information about a bank account. This was reported on the Izvestia website.

The publication notes that the attackers pose as bank employees and tell the victim that they are allegedly trying to get a loan in her name. They offer to avoid this with "free protection", which involves creating a QR code to cancel the operation and sending it to the chatbot.

Anton Fishman, technical director of RuSIEM, noted that, in fact, a QR code can be used to withdraw cash from an ATM. According to him, such an operation does not require SMS confirmation from the client.

In addition, Ashot Hovhannisyan, founder of the DLBI data leak intelligence and darknet monitoring service, noted that a QR code can contain a link to any content, including fake sites and malware.

Earlier it became known that cybercriminals learned to monitor PC owners using video cards.

According to a group of specialists from French, Israeli and Australian universities who have explored the possibility of creating a unique video card data set, attackers manage to obtain personal data by obtaining consent to activate website cookies.
