CNN President Jeff Zucker has stepped down. The reason for this decision was an affair with a colleague. This was reported on the channel's website on Wednesday.

“I was asked about a consensual relationship with my closest colleague with whom I have worked for over 20 years,” Zucker wrote in a memo.

According to him, he should have told his superiors about the affair with a colleague when it began, but he did not. The information came to light during an investigation into former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who was fired for helping his brother Andrew Cuomo deny allegations of sexual harassment.

A separate statement was published by CNN marketing director Allison Gollust, in which she confirmed that the romance with Zucker began by mutual agreement.

“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years. Our relationship has changed during the coronavirus pandemic. I regret that we did not tell about it in time,” she wrote.

Gollust also noted that she will continue to work at CNN.
