Russia - Question to readers: Do icicles bother you?

Russia (bbabo.net), - This year's winter turned out to be capricious: either frost or thaw. It snows for weeks. As a result - meter-long icicles on the cornices and roofs of houses bent from the weight of snow. And all this is far from harmless. Our question: do icicles interfere with your life?

Nodir Khalilov, janitor, St. Petersburg:

- I myself am from Samarkand, I saw real ice and snowdrifts only three years ago, when I moved to St. Petersburg. Icicles are my pain. In the very first winter, a huge icicle collapsed exactly in the corner of the yard where my inventory was stacked. The metal shovel was crushed so that it had to be thrown away. Since then, I have been very afraid of icicles. Honestly, if it weren't for icicles and ice, Peter would be the best city in the world, and maybe I wouldn't even miss my homeland.

Anatoly Krasny, pensioner, Minsk:

- They do not interfere, because they are cleaned by public utilities workers. They always do it on time, so it's a sin to complain. You go out into the yard, sometimes it even becomes a pity that you cannot admire this icy beauty. I remember my childhood, how I loved to pluck icicles, and then lick a lollipop created by nature. Often with friends they treated themselves to this amazing winter delicacy. It is a pity that this time is gone forever.

Alexander Forin, doctor, Khabarovsk:

- Now in Khabarovsk there are huge snowdrifts on the roofs, but they will begin to melt not earlier than March-April. And thaws are not expected in the near future. Frosts are cracking! That is, there are no icicles yet and there is nothing to be afraid of them. The problem of icicles in the south of the Far East arises only in spring. And oh, how far to her.

Sergey Sharov, head of the executive committee of the All-Russian Popular Front in the Saratov region:

- The courts began to prosecute the owners of housing in apartment buildings due to the fact that passers-by get injured from snow and ice that falls from converted balconies. If a person glazed a balcony, installed a visor over it, but did not coordinate these changes with local authorities and the meeting of residents of the house, according to the law, not the managing organization, but he himself is responsible for the maintenance of such property. Recently in Saratov, a court sentenced a 72-year-old grandmother to six months' imprisonment because ice that fell from the roof of her balcony killed a 12-year-old boy.

Irina Sayko, Senior Researcher at the Museum of Local Lore, Baranovichi:

- Icicles interfere not only with me, but with all city dwellers. Any sane person understands that ice blocks are fraught with great danger. Therefore, I try to walk on sidewalks a few meters from buildings. And I advise everyone not only to look under their feet, but also up.

Anna Buevich, chairman of the regional organization of veterans, Borisov:

- I confess, I don’t bother about icicles: if they don’t exist, it’s good, when they suddenly appeared, it’s even better. After all, in nature everything is harmonious, in everything you can find your pluses. For me, for example, icicles are a sign of coming spring. So our ancestors already in mid-February began to actively prepare for a warm welcome. And if the icicles are removed from the roofs, then there will be one less sign of spring.

Vlad Girfanov, courier, Kazan:

- There are no problems with icicles on the central streets and in new districts of Kazan. But in the old areas and the private sector, such a problem exists. Long icicles hang from the eaves of houses, threatening to fall on people's heads. I move in such places with my head held high.
