If earlier a man was accused of committing 26 murders, now their number has grown to 36. This was announced by the acting director. The person involved in the case, known as the “Volga maniac” or “strangler of pensioners,” committed crimes in Kazan, as well as in 11 regions of the country from 2011 to 2012, law enforcement officers believe.

The man was arrested in December 2020. The victims of the accused were lonely elderly women. According to investigators, under the guise of a social worker or a housing and communal services worker, he entered their apartments, strangled and robbed.
