Russia (bbabo.net), - The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Stavropol Territory is investigating a criminal case on the preparation of a terrorist attack by an 18-year-old local resident. According to the investigation, he planned to arrange an explosion in Novopavlovsk in the spring of 2021, but was detained earlier on suspicion of organizing an extremist organization.

According to the press service of the investigative department, the guy is accused under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

- The young man, being a supporter of an extremist organization, from January to April 2021 planned to carry out a terrorist act by blowing up one of the infrastructure facilities of the city of Novopavlovsk. In the spring of 2021, the suspect prepared a place for laying the explosive, and also purchased a TNT block, which he kept on the territory of his household, the press service of the department said.

The defendant was detained before he was able to carry out his plan. Now the young man has been taken into custody and charged with preparing for a terrorist attack, illegal acquisition and possession of explosive devices, recruitment into the activities of an extremist organization and participation in the activities of banned religious organizations. Forensic examinations are being carried out in a criminal case, experts are collecting evidence.
