The man, a native of Nigeria, entered into correspondence with a resident of Krasnoyarsk on behalf of the famous British actor. At some point, he wrote that he sent her a package with gifts. Then, allegedly an employee of the courier service contacted the woman and said that the parcel had been delivered to Krasnoyarsk, but in order to receive it, the addressee had to pay customs duties and taxes.

According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the attacker talked the victim so much that Krasnoyarsk transferred more than 4.7 million rubles to him in several tranches. She was dissuaded from the next transfer by bank employees, explaining that dubious transactions were being carried out on the specified account. Only then did the woman realize that she had been the victim of a scam and contacted the police.

Operatives during the investigation came to the suspect, who lives in Balashikha near Moscow. After his arrest, he admitted his guilt. Now he is in jail. A criminal case was initiated against him under part 4 of Article 159.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale). Meanwhile, the police are investigating whether there were other episodes of fraud involving him.
