The current generation of the Lada Granta family of cars will be the last. This was told to Motor by the head of the press service of AvtoVAZ, Sergey Ilyinsky.

According to him, the Lada Granta will be replaced by a completely new family of B-class cars with its own name, which has nothing to do with the current Granta.

Earlier this week, insiders said that AvtoVAZ started work on the production of new Ladas based on the CMF-B modular platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance, which in the future will become the same for all models.

It was reported that in one of the buildings, in conditions of increased secrecy, a body welding line for a new B-class model is being installed. Finished bodies are sent for painting to the SKP Kalina complex, where they usually prepare cars of the Granta family, and then they are transported to the Scientific and Technical Center (NTC) for the final assembly of test cars. It is expected that mass production of the new model will start in 2023.

Until 2025, AvtoVAZ plans to bring five new Lada cars to the market, including the next generation Niva, the president of the company, Nicolas Maure, spoke about this in the summer of 2021. Also, according to him, by 2027-2028, AvtoVAZ plans to establish mass production of electric vehicles in Russia.
