Serafima Saprykina, a teacher at gymnasium No. 168 in St. Petersburg, who quit after reading poetry by Daniil Kharms and Alexander Vvedensky, refused to continue teaching, the Zvezda TV channel reports.

“They just called me from the education committee and offered me another job at the school… I won’t go to school to work anymore,” she said.

According to Saprykina, she did not violate any training plans that were prescribed by the director of the gymnasium. In addition, the teacher noted that other teachers after the incident stood up for her.

Saprykina also said that after the incident, the leadership of the educational institution did not contact her and remained silent. According to the teacher, she does not want to punish the director of the gymnasium.

“I don’t want her to have a showdown with the prosecutor’s office or with anyone else. I just wanted parents, children to know that this person holds such specific views, ”she explained.

Earlier, the director of the gymnasium explained Saprykina's dismissal as a violation of the curriculum. According to her, Saprykina acted “not very correctly”, having independently decided which classes to conduct. She noted that in the gymnasium they study in depth the Russian language and literature, including Kharms, but the replacement of one lesson with another must be coordinated either with the head teacher for educational work or with the director.
