Russia - WHO advises 'not to relax' due to decline in COVID hospitalizations

Russia (bbabo.net), - The representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Russia, Melita Vujnovic, believes that it is too early for Russians to relax amid a decrease in the number of hospitalized with coronavirus.

“The figure is decreasing, but there is no need to relax, because there are hospitalized people, and people are dying,” Vujnovic said on Channel One, adding that she monitors covid statistics every morning.

According to Melita Vujnovic, while the omicron strain may soon replace the previous known Delta coronavirus mutation, the strain still remains in Russia because the country is large. "Omicron" comes in waves, displacing the "delta", - the representative of WHO emphasized.

According to the operational headquarters for control and monitoring of the situation with coronavirus, the number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Russia as of February 2 amounted to 17.2 thousand people. This is 1.6% lower than the previous day. In total, 12.1 million cases of coronavirus have been detected in Russia to date in 85 regions. Over the entire period, more than 332 thousand deaths were recorded, over 10 million people recovered.
