US diplomats tried to organize the escape of an American woman from Moscow

American diplomats tried to arrange an "escape" for a citizen of the United States, Sarah Rachel Krivanek, who wounded her roommate with a kitchen knife. It is reported by Izvestia.

A native of California was under house arrest after the attack.

Krivanek provided English language teaching services in Moscow. The tourist visa on which the American arrived in Russia in 2017 was valid until October 21, 2020.

A year later, on November 11, 2021, the woman was detained on suspicion of a crime. She was charged with “intentional infliction of minor bodily harm” and “threat to kill or cause grievous bodily harm.”

Previously, an American woman was detained after stabbing her roommate in the face. The victim was hospitalized. Krivanek confessed to what she had done and explained that she did not want to kill the man.

A criminal case was opened against her under the article “Threat to kill or cause grievous bodily harm.” Krivanek chose a measure of restraint in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and proper behavior.

On December 14, 2021, the American visited the United States Embassy, after which she went with a diplomat to the airport in order to buy a ticket for herself and fly out of Russia.

A day later, when passing through border control at Sheremetyevo Airport, the woman was detained. During the search, the American woman was found with a folder with the details of the American embassy. Among the documents was a receipt stating that the American woman had received money from the diplomatic mission for a flight to Washington.

Earlier, the US Embassy published options for evacuation from Ukraine.
