The scientists' study consisted of a meta-analysis of data on mortality and measures taken by American and European authorities.

"A meta-analysis concluded that the restrictions had little effect on public health, but they led to huge economic and social costs in the countries where they were adopted," the authors of the report note.

Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that there is no talk of a lockdown, quarantine or any emergency measures to counter COVID-19 in Russia today. According to her, our country already has understandable and well-established anti-epidemic measures and diagnostic tools.
