If in 2020 there were 403 accidents, in which 14 children died and 431 children were injured, then in 2021, 16 minors died in 461 accidents, and 518 children were injured.
- It was not possible to save 16 children, and 14 of them were passengers of cars. It is clear that adults are to blame for these fatal accidents, and girls, one might say, have become hostages of the situation. Two more accidents involving minors occurred in Ufa and Sibay. In the first case, a cyclist died, in the second - a boy riding a scooter, - said the chief state traffic inspector of Bashkiria Vladimir Sevastyanov.
Of the 14 children who died in the accidents, 12 were wearing seat belts and were in special restraint seats. Vladimir Sevastyanov explained: in most cases, the cause of the accident was a significant excess of the permissible speed, so the seat belt and other restraints did not help.
At the same time, there are many cases when it is the child seat that saves the life of a child. So, for example, in one of the latest accidents that occurred in the Sterlitamak region, a one and a half year old child survived - he was in a child seat. His mother, a 27-year-old female driver, died at the scene of an accident.
Perhaps the same chair could save a two-month-old baby who became a victim of the irresponsibility of parents in the Kiginsky district. The accident occurred late on the evening of July 11, 2021, when two families were driving home from a picnic by the lake in the same car. The driver lost control and the car overturned. The mother could not hold the two-month-old baby in her arms, and he flew out of the windshield. The kid died in the hospital, and his father, who that ill-fated evening got behind the wheel drunk, was sentenced by the court to six years of probation, and for two years he will not be able to drive. That's just the life of the child, no one will return.
According to the regional state traffic inspectorate, in 2021, 110 children received various injuries on the roads of the republic due to their own negligence.
“Last year we focused on working with children in schools and kindergartens, but, judging by the results of the year, now we need to intensify preventive measures with adults,” Vladimir Sevastyanov emphasized.
In addition to the installation of new cameras for photo and video recording, in 2022, drivers will face mass checks on the roads of the republic.
