Russia - Rospotrebnadzor clarifies the rules for quarantine due to COVID-19

Russia (bbabo.net), - The editorial office of Rossiyskaya Gazeta receives questions from readers about the reduction of quarantine periods in connection with the coronavirus infection. In what cases is the isolation time reduced to 7 days or the quarantine is canceled altogether? These questions were answered in Rospotrebnadzor.

"A person who has been in contact with a patient with COVID-19 must be isolated (in an observatory, at the place of residence) for at least 7 calendar days from the date of the last contact with a patient with COVID-19 or until recovery (in case of development of the disease)," this rule came into force. effective from January 26," Rospotrebnadzor said.

This follows from the latest version of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Rules SP 3.1.3597-20 "Prevention of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19)", approved by the decision of the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation. Changes were made to the document on January 21, 2022 and entered into force after registration with the Ministry of Justice on January 26.

The document also states that "persons who have completed a full course of vaccination against COVID-19 within the last six months, and persons who have been ill with COVID-19 within the last six months, if they do not have symptoms of the disease, are not subject to isolation."

The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, explained the lack of need for quarantine for vaccinated people after contact with a covid-patient, specifying that there is no need to isolate if there are no symptoms of the disease.

"No, it's not necessary! This is our rule! Such isolation is not indicated for vaccinated and recovered contacts if they do not have symptoms. On this occasion, there is also a significant amount of research that people who have been vaccinated and have been ill have a much lower concentration of the virus and the period of its release small," Popova was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
