Ex-world boxing champion, State Duma deputy Nikolai Valuev spoke about the upcoming confrontation between the national teams of Russia and Ukraine in the semi-finals of the European mini-football championship. He stressed that, despite the political contradictions between the two states, it is necessary to talk about this match only in a sports context.
“We are not waiting for anything but the game. No politics. Provocations? Whoever wants, let them talk about provocations, ”said Valuev.
The Russian team made it to the semi-finals of the European Championship, defeating the Georgian team with a score of 3:1. In turn, the Ukrainians left the Kazakh team out of the tournament, winning 5:3. The meeting of the national teams of Russia and Ukraine will take place on February 4 and will start at 17:00 Moscow time.
The Russian national team once became the champion of Europe - in 1999. Also, the Russian team won the silver medals of the European championship five times and bronze three times. In turn, the Ukrainian national team twice - in 2001 and 2003 - became the finalist of the continental tournament.
