Russia - Voronezh girl with cystic fibrosis needs expensive medicine

Russia (bbabo.net), - In the Voronezh region, they announced a fundraiser to help 15-year-old Anya Baranova from the Nizhnedevitsky district, who is struggling with a serious illness. The girl's family cannot purchase the imported medicines and consumables she needs at their own expense, and the state, unfortunately, provides only a generic drug that causes complications.

Anya was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis in infancy. Her body cannot cope with the simplest microbes that are invisible to a healthy person, so viscous sputum accumulates in the lungs, which must be removed: do inhalation and gymnastics, cough and constantly drink antibiotics.

In addition, Anya absorbs protein very poorly. Now she weighs 27 kilograms - and this is due to the fact that she receives special nutrition through a gastrostomy. The mixture infusion tube is inserted directly into the stomach through an opening in the abdomen.

Three or four times a year, the girl has to go to a Moscow hospital for examination and additional treatment.

Despite all these difficulties, Anya's condition has been acceptable until recently. She took the antibiotic Tobramycin, which successfully killed the Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in her lungs.

A few years ago, due to changes in legislation, the girl began to buy another drug, "Gobi", - cheaper, but similar in composition. It turned out, however, that inhalations with it do not give the same effect at all. Anya began to cough violently and choke. To improve the girl's condition, she was prescribed treatment with Colistin.

To purchase 24 packs (they should be enough for a year), you need almost a million rubles. It also requires an inhaler, tubes for the gastrostomy, and a pump that supplies special nutrition to it.

Help

You can help the Baranovs through the Voronezh charitable foundation "DobroSvet". Details are available on the foundation's website (as well as reports on all receipts and expenditures).
