Swedish authorities forcibly take children from refugees from the Middle East

Refugees from Syria and other countries in the Middle East who have managed to reach Sweden and settle down in that country face the fact that social workers forcibly take away their children on the grounds that they allegedly cannot provide them with proper care and conditions for a normal life. life.

Recently, many stories have appeared on Arab and Muslim social media platforms in which people directly accuse the Swedish Department of Social Services of forcibly taking their children away from them.

A large campaign was launched demanding the return of refugee children to their parents. The reason for public outrage was a video posted on YouTube by Syrian activist George Tuma. Two parents, Diab Talal and Amal Sheho, said Swedish authorities forcibly took away their five children, including a newborn baby minutes after he was born.

Diab Talal appeals to all caring people to help return the children: “Think everything - Muslims, Europeans, fathers and mothers, what a child means for a family. Where are you, O Kusay, Wafa, Duha, Rahaf? Where are you my children? They took you away and I still hear your voices. I was told that this is a land of safety, and after 8 months my children were taken away.”

According to Swedish law, social services have the right to take children away from their parents if it is proved that they cannot raise them on their own. Children are placed in a social welfare institution and live there until they are transferred to foster parents.

Palestinian activist Adham Abu Salameh tweeted: “The scenes of children crying because they were separated from their parents confirm that what is happening is a state-controlled kidnapping. What is needed is not words of sympathy, but a serious movement at all levels to save our children.”

The final decision on the return of children to refugee parents is made by the Swedish court.
