In China, border guards patrol the territory along with geese, according to Oddity Central. As practice shows, birds do an excellent job of finding illegal immigrants.

According to media reports, soldiers and geese patrol the section of the border with Vietnam, which stretches for 184 kilometers by land and 22 kilometers by water, with many trails and paths. Tracking such an area is difficult, so in June 2021, the military adopted these birds as an experiment.

The experience was positive. The geese proved to be more alert to strangers and unusual sounds than dogs, which helped border guards catch several people trying to enter China illegally.

“Geese will scream when they hear something. They will start shouting even louder when they see a stranger,” border guard Li Fei commented.

Soon, pairs of geese appeared in each border control group, which regularly serve along with people. It is reported that a total of 500 birds are involved in patrolling the border at 300 points.
