The Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg on Monday sentenced members of the Lurk hacker group, which stole more than a billion rubles. Community leader Konstantin Kozlovsky was sentenced to 14 years in a strict regime colony.

Ordinary members of the group received from 5 years 1 month to 13 years in prison, RIA Novosti reports. The verdict to the hackers was announced within five days.

As the investigation established, hackers united in a criminal community to engage in computer hacking and fraud using special malware.

In total, 22 defendants are involved in the case, one of which is wanted. The state prosecution requested for the defendants from 6 to 18 years in prison.

“We do not agree with the verdict, we will appeal it. The materials of the case do not confirm the guilt of my client. Those arguments that we confirmed, according to which it was impossible to carry out operational-search activities on the territory of foreign states, the court did not refute in its verdict, ”Kozlovsky’s lawyer Fyodor Akchermyshev told reporters.

The representative of the state prosecution, in turn, told reporters that in order to resolve the issue of appealing the verdict, you first need to carefully study the text of the court decision.

The investigation established that from December 2015 to April 2016, the defendants in the case created and distributed a virus on the Internet, with the help of which they gained access to the local computer networks of a number of large banks, travel companies, construction and food companies . In addition, they received access to the computer database of the Koltsovo airport in Yekaterinburg.

Also in 2016, the media reported that about one billion 700 million had been stolen from several banks. A group of hackers wrote a virus and managed to inject it into software used by many Russian banks.
