This conclusion can be drawn from the results of an all-Russian survey conducted by the Nauka TV channel. Of course, the questions were posed much more correctly. Survey participants were asked to answer which areas of science are the most in demand. By a wide margin, the Russians gave preference to medicine and biology (56% of respondents). First of all, medicine is expected to defeat cancer, create drugs that help with incurable diseases, prolong life, and improve medical technology.
The second place in the survey is occupied by psychology (21%). The Russians are waiting for help in matters of child psychology, raising children and adolescents.
The third place in the rating is given to discoveries in the field of new technologies and nanotechnologies (20%). Expectations are associated with the creation of nanorobots, artificial tissues, new types of 3D printers, etc., as well as new materials.
The economy, according to the results of the survey, has shifted from 3rd place to 8th (12% compared to 19% in 2020). From the economy, Russians expect the development of production, the solution of economic problems, the elimination of social inequality and the growth of living standards.
The fourth place belongs to the space and aviation sectors (17%). Science is expected to actively study and explore space, fly to Mars and the Moon, develop space technologies and equipment, develop aviation, in particular, flight safety.
The top five of the most demanded scientific areas is closed by automobile and mechanical engineering (16%). Here they are concerned about the environmental friendliness of transport (clean fuel, alternative energy sources, electric vehicles), as well as new models, safer cars.
Development in the field of IT technologies and electronics is considered a priority by 15% of Russians. Their expectations are connected with the improvement of computers, the development of new programs, the introduction of artificial intelligence and robots into everyday life.
About the need for discoveries in the exact sciences - mathematics, physics, chemistry - said 13% of respondents. The respondents are waiting for the general development of these areas, the discovery of new laws, chemical elements and substances, as well as progress in quantum and atomic physics.
