AvtoVAZ has certified the restyled Lada Vesta. All about the new car

The restyled Lada Vesta will differ from the current one with LED headlights and a new interior with a digital instrument panel. Modifications with the Cross prefix will be equipped with a system for changing the exchange rate stabilization settings that simulates off-road driving modes. Due to the abundance of new electronics, experts expect its failures and recommend not rushing to buy in the first batches. The updated Vesta has passed the certification procedure and received a vehicle type approval (OTTS), the corresponding document is placed in the register of Rosstanadart. According to the document, the production of the car will be launched not only in Russia at the AvtoVAZ site in Togliatti and Izhevsk, but also in Kazakhstan at the SaryarkaAvtoProm enterprise.

The main changes of the car touched the exterior, the front and rear bumpers have changed. At the rear, dual exhaust pipes will appear, and the headlights have become narrower. The front panel appeared on the car with a digital instrument cluster, a large multimedia display (tablet in the maximum versions) and a new microclimate control unit, which was borrowed from the Renault Arkana crossover.

The basic equipment of the car includes exchange rate stabilization, emergency braking assistance, front power windows, driver's airbag,

Options include air conditioning or climate control, heated front seats, power rear windows, parking sensors, as well as side airbags and a front airbag for the front passenger, as well as remote engine start, light and rain sensors, cruise control, pressure control system in tires and reversing camera.

After restyling, the Vesta sedan and station wagon became slightly longer (by about 3 cm), primarily due to the new shape of the front and rear bumpers. The wheelbase of the car remained unchanged - just over 2.6 meters. In the Vesta model line, there are "cross" versions with a clearance increased to 20 cm (on ordinary sedans and station wagons, it is slightly less than 18 cm).

Such modifications are now equipped with a system for changing the course stabilization algorithms. In total, there are two modes: driving on the highway or light off-road. The technology is similar to that already installed on the Lada Xray Cross.

The updated cars will be available with VAZ-designed engines of 1.6 and 1.8 liters with a capacity of 106 and 122 horsepower, respectively. Both are mated to a five-speed manual transmission. For 106-horsepower versions, a box developed at AvtoVAZ is provided, and a 5-speed manual transmission of the Renault brand is installed on a modification with a 1.8 engine.

The Vesta version with a 1.6-liter Renault power unit with a capacity of 113 horsepower remains in the model line. Such cars will only be combined with the Jatco CVT.

The restyling will also affect the Vesta CNG modification, adapted to run on compressed natural gas (a 1.6-liter engine is installed under the hood, which produces 95 horsepower on methane), the Lada Vesta Sport will also be updated with an aerodynamic body kit, sports suspension and brakes, lowered ground clearance. Such a car, as before, is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter engine, which is boosted to 145 horsepower.

Experts of the Autoreview publication, who conducted life tests of the current generation of Lada Vesta, noted the car's poor protection against corrosion. Specially made notches on the body were covered with rust after the first placement of the car in a special salt chamber. In addition, during the tests, the paint peeled off the front bumper.

During the accelerated life tests for reliability, the rubber mounts of the exhaust system were constantly torn on the car. The testers also drew attention to the rapid wear of the brake pads and the weak suspension of the car.

Causes trouble for motorists and mechanical transmission: some speeds are poorly included, over time, the moves of the gear lever increase.

After the update, Lada Vesta has become more modern, it has a lot of new electronics in expensive trim levels, Maxim Kadakov, editor-in-chief of the automotive magazine Za Rulem, who has already seen the updated car, knows. According to him, potential problems and failures of electronics are possible at the initial stages of production of the machine.

“The mechanical part of the car has long been known and debugged, but new electronic systems can theoretically fail, especially in the first batches,” the expert suggested.

Sergey Burgazliev, an independent consultant on the automotive industry, agrees with him. According to him, possible problems may be associated primarily with the components of the car, including electronic ones.

“Not a single automaker is insured against some childhood illnesses at the stage of launching production. As a rule, such shortcomings are detected fairly quickly,” he said.Burgazliev recommends that potential buyers of the updated Lada Vesta wait a couple of months after the start of sales until potential problems and failures associated with the initial stage of production of the car are detected and eliminated.

AvtoVAZ does not disclose the timing of the start of production and sales of the updated Lada Vesta.

“As soon as we are ready, we will immediately inform about everything,” said Sergey Ilyinsky, an official representative of AvtoVAZ.
