Russia (bbabo.net) - Tver police detained suspects in a series of crimes against the elderly.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tver region, the defendants are involved in at least four episodes of fraud.

One of the victims is an 84-year-old resident of Tver. The police said that an unknown woman called the pensioner on a landline and introduced herself as her granddaughter. The interlocutor said that she allegedly got into an accident, and she needs a large sum to compensate the victims.

“Wishing to help a relative, the pensioner handed over 200 thousand rubles to the driver of one of the local taxis in the courtyard of her house, and only after some time she found out that everything was in order with her granddaughter,” the department explained.

Thanks to the professionalism of the police, the car driven by a taxi driver-courier was soon discovered. It turned out that the man handed over the money to young people, who then transferred the amount to the accounts of their remote accomplices. The mediators - two residents of the Kalininsky district, aged 24 and 26 - were also detained. They confessed that they repeatedly "earned" by transferring the money of the victims to the accounts indicated by their employers.

During the search, five cards of various banks, two mobile phones and four SIM cards were seized from the suspects.

The press service of the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that criminal cases were initiated on all the facts under article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). All participants in the criminal scheme are being identified.
