German Chancellor Scholz hopes Deutsche Welle will be able to work in Russia

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that the German television company Deutsche Welle will be able to work in Russia. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“I also expressed my expectation that Deutsche Welle will be able to continue its journalistic activities,” he said at a press conference following the meeting.

Earlier, the Association of German Journalists appealed to Scholz to insist on the immediate lifting of restrictions on Deutsche Welle during negotiations with Putin.

In early February, the European satellite operator Eutelsat 9B removed from its platform the German-language TV channel RT DE, broadcasting from studios in Moscow, at the request of the German media regulator MABB. RT has been investigated.

In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the closure of the Deutsche Welle correspondent office in Russia.
