The Lefortovo Court of Moscow imprisoned a Russian citizen in a pre-trial detention center on suspicion of committing treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). It is reported by RIA Novosti.
It is noted that Namazov Rovshan Namaz oglu will spend two months in custody, until April 11, 2022.
The materials of the case against the person involved are classified as “secret”, the agency clarifies. If found guilty, Namazov faces a sentence of 12 to 20 years in prison.
The day before it was reported that investigators of the Federal Security Service (FSB) demanded that the Russian be arrested on suspicion of treason. A law enforcement source said that Namazov lived near the cosmodrome in Plesetsk, in the Arkhangelsk region.
Prior to this, in Primorye, a 70-year-old acoustic scientist was sentenced to 12 years for treason. The court also imposed a fine of 300 thousand rubles on the convict and restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year.
