Russia - Violation of sanitary rules caused an outbreak of norovirus in a school in Chuvashia

Russia (bbabo.net), - Violations of sanitary rules in an educational institution could be the probable cause of the mass infection of schoolchildren with norovirus in Novocheboksarsk. Tests of food unit workers for infection were negative.

The prosecutor's office of Chuvashia shared the results of the check. Recall that on January 12 this year, due to poor health, 167 students were forced to miss classes at school No. 16 in Novocheboksarsk, 57 of whom asked for medical help. Now all the children have recovered.

The prosecutor's office found out that all the patients were diagnosed with norovirus infection. Violations of sanitary and epidemiological legislation were found at the school. Among them - the absence in the vegetable shop of the necessary exhaust system, a sink for washing hands. Also, the storage area was cleaned poorly. According to experts, the cause of mass morbidity in children could be the contact of food with surfaces containing a viral infection.

During the inspection, it turned out that the teachers did not do preventive vaccinations in time, the rooms were not cleaned daily, the ceilings in the catering unit were affected by a fungus, and the drinking regime in the classrooms was organized with violations.

A submission was made to the principal of the school demanding to eliminate the violations identified by the prosecutor's office. The food supplier was fined 5,000 rubles as part of an administrative case. The school was fined 30,000 rubles. An administrative case was also initiated against the director of the institution.
