He noted that heavy snowfalls are expected in the south of Sakhalin, and wind gusts can reach 25 meters per second. According to Shuvalov, a hurricane is predicted for the Kuril Islands. Wind gusts there will exceed 35-38 m/s.
This will happen in connection with the activation of the explosive cyclone, which originates over the Sea of Japan and develops rapidly, the meteorologist emphasized.
“Such cyclones are called “cyclone-bomb”. It just goes to the south of the Kuril ridge, first it will hook Hokkaido, there will also be unpleasant weather, then the south of the Kuril ridge and in the end it will capture Kamchatka, but this is already next week, ”Shuvalov noted.
Earlier, the meteorologist said that a series of powerful cyclones with storms and hurricanes is moving to the cities of Russia, so on Saturday, February 19, wind gusts will reach 30 m/s in Kaliningrad.
