Russia (bbabo.net), - As noted by oncologist and proctologist Elena Smirnova, eating about 30 grams of fiber per day helps reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, intestinal cancer, helps to reduce weight, normalize cholesterol and blood pressure.

In order to have enough valuable dietary fiber in the diet, it is recommended to pay attention to foods such as wheat bran (contain 43.6 grams of fiber per 100 grams of product), dried fruits (18 grams), oatmeal (10.6 grams).

“To increase the percentage of fiber in the product, it’s good to cook potatoes in their skins, replace white bread, pasta and rice with their whole grain counterparts, choose high-fiber cereals for breakfast, such as oatmeal,” advised the proctologist on Instagram.

However, the amount of fiber in the diet should be increased gradually, the doctor emphasized.

“So that out of habit there is no flatulence, stool disturbance and abdominal pain,” Smirnova clarified, adding that one should start adding the same bran from breakfast, and after a few days, saturate lunch and dinner with plenty of fiber.

Earlier, the proctologist said that feeling unwell, irritability, and worsening skin condition are common symptoms of atony, a violation of the tone of the organ walls, which is also called a sign of a "lazy" intestine.
