As reported in the regional department of the Investigative Committee, the first was found guilty of murdering a person who is known to be in a helpless state with particular cruelty, associated with robbery. And the second - only in robbery and storage and transportation of gunpowder.

The court sentenced a resident of the Chelyabinsk region to 23 years in prison, and a countryman of a murdered veteran - to 10 years in prison in a strict regime correctional colony, acquitting the man on murder charges. The court also recovered from the accused the amount of money stolen from the victim and compensation for non-pecuniary damage in favor of the victim's relatives in the amount of more than 3.3 million rubles.

Recall that the murder of a 100-year-old veteran occurred in July 2020. The man's body was found in his private house in the village of Leuza by neighbors. The attackers turned out to be former employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service, who practically left no traces and tried not to draw attention to themselves. It was only after two months of hard work that their identities were established.

The court found that the defendants knew that the veteran kept a large amount of money at home, and decided to steal them. At night, the men entered the veteran's house, beat him and tortured him to tell him where the money was. The pensioner died from his injuries, and his tormentors took with them about 2.4 million rubles, which they divided among themselves. Almost a million rubles of them were found in the place indicated by one of the accused.

During interrogation, a resident of Bashkiria confessed to the robbery, stating that he was not involved in the murder. His accomplice pleaded not guilty to the charges.

By the way, in the course of the investigation, more than 40 forensic examinations were carried out, about 300 persons were checked for involvement in the crime by investigative and operational means.

The prosecutor's office of Bashkiria reported that the verdict would be appealed by the public prosecutor on appeal.
