The President of Russia is asked to save the capital of the Siberian Khanate from destruction

The regional Tatar public organization "Heritage" in the Tyumen region sent a letter to President Vladimir Putin, in which he asks to help preserve for future generations the Federal monument "Kuchumovo settlement - the ancient capital of the Siberian Khanate".

Sopka Isker, where the capital city of Khan Kuchum was, is located 19 kilometers from the city of Tobolsk on the banks of the Irtysh. The archaeological monument is washed by the waters of the river and continues to collapse. According to the topographic survey of 2016, no more than 10% of the territory of the fortress, once considered the stronghold of Siberia, has survived. If bank protection works are not carried out, the historical site may be lost to future generations.

As noted in the appeal of the chairman of the NGO "Heritage" Luiza Shamsutdinova to the head of state, the public organization is implementing more than ten projects that popularize the historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia, and for 16 years has been trying to preserve the monument of federal significance. Nasledie asks to include in the plan of the main events of the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia the bank protection of the historical monument and the holding of the international festival of the historical and cultural heritage of the Siberian Tatars "Isker-zhien".

Recall that the RTOO "Heritage" in the Tyumen region is also building a historical and memorial complex "Isker" with a cathedral mosque, a museum, and a hotel. The complex is being built on the mainland opposite the hill of the Khan's fortress Isker.
