“Several sabotage groups penetrated the territory of the republics, committing or attempting to commit undermining of critical infrastructure facilities. As I said, there are casualties among the civilian population, general mobilization was announced in the LPR and DPR, ”Nebenzya said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
The permanent representative emphasized that it was to Russia, and not to Ukraine, that the refugees went.
“During these days, the number of evacuated women, the elderly and children amounted to about 70 thousand people. Russia accepts them and creates conditions for their accommodation and living,” he added.
On February 18, the leaders of the DPR and LPR, amid the growing threat of hostilities, announced the evacuation of the inhabitants of the republics to Russia, initially to the Rostov region. Later, a number of Russian regions announced their readiness to receive and accommodate refugees.
