- In the course of work on the line of combating the illegal circulation of state awards in the city of Sochi, the Federal Security Service of the Krasnodar Territory, together with the Department of Internal Affairs of Sochi, within the framework of criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Article 324 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, 49 awards from the times of the Great Patriotic War were withdrawn from illegal circulation, which, According to the conclusions of the experts of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, they are genuine and of cultural value, - said the First Deputy Head of the Federal Security Service for the Krasnodar Territory - the head of the service in the city of Sochi, Major General Viktor Shamenkov.

Among the awards are the military orders of the Patriotic War of I and II degrees, the Order of the Red Star and the Red Banner, ten medals "For Courage", medals "For the Defense of Moscow", "For the Defense of Leningrad", "For the Liberation of Warsaw". Veterans awarded with confiscated orders and medalso installed. Unfortunately, none of them survived to this day.

- The historical memory of the people is sacred for all of us, especially if it concerns the Great Patriotic War! - said the head of Sochi Alexei Kopaygorodsky. - Behind each of these awards is a human destiny, shed blood, a military feat. And when attackers try to turn it all into a commodity, there is no limit to the subject of purchase and sale of indignation.

The mayor of the resort city thanked everyone who took part in this important mission to restore historical justice.

- Almost 77 years ago the Great Patriotic War ended, - said Viktor Filonov, chairman of the Sochi City Assembly. - In our time, the social value of these orders and medals, especially for young people, increases many times over. Now personal rewards have taken on a new meaning. They become symbols of national pride, statehood, patriotism.

The Federal Security Service for the Krasnodar Territory handed over the awards to representatives of the Sochi Military Commissariat, where they will prepare the accompanying documents and send the transferred state awards to the Central Archive of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Podolsk.

Further, the specialists of the archive will have to work hard to find the heirs to whom they will be returned as a memory. If relatives cannot be found, state awards will be sent for storage to the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of Russia on Poklonnaya Hill.
