Daimler Truck suspends cooperation with KamAZ, according to the German Handelsblatt, citing the company's press service. Daimler Truck will not supply components for the production of commercial vehicles in Russia.

“The world's largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles is responding to sharp criticism of the alliance with the Russians. After all, KamAZ is not only the leading manufacturer of trucks and buses in Russia, but has been equipping the country’s army with armored vehicles for years,” the publication says.

Earlier on the same day, on February 28, KamAZ issued an appeal from General Director Sergei Kogogin. He assured that the leadership of the auto giant has a plan of action in these conditions, agreed with the government of the Russian Federation, and the company continues to work as usual.

Daimler AG and KamAZ entered into an agreement to establish a joint venture in 2009. It was based on a strategic partnership between Daimler AG, KamAZ PJSC, Russian Technologies State Corporation and Troika Dialog Investment Bank.

At the end of 2010, Daimler Kamaz Rus (DK RUS LLC) launched its own production of Mercedes-Benz trucks using the SKD method in Naberezhnye Chelny.

Earlier, the concern General Motors denied stopping the supply of cars to Russia.
