Russia: The area of forest fires in Siberia reduced more than tenfold

On the territory of the Siberian Federal District (SFD) the area of forest fires decreased from 29.5 thousands to nearly two thousands hectares over the weekend, reported TASS. “On Monday morning, June 8, there are still 13 forest fire areas covering 1.9 hectares in the region”, said the SFD Forestry Department.

A special fire alarm regime (FAR) was introduced throughout the territory of the Altai Republic, Irkutsk Oblast, Altai Region, as well as in 13 districts of Krasnoyarsk Region and 3 districts of Tomsk Oblast. FAR has been also announced in Trans-Baikal Region, the Republic of Tuva and Khakassia, in 19 districts of the Republic of Buriatia and one district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Amidst the most often causes of such fires there is a careless handling of fire by local and thunderstorms.

Siberian Federal District is situated in the Siberian part of Russia and consists of 12 subjects including both national republics and other regions.
