Mosques in Europe turned into shelters for Ukrainian refugees

Muslims of Europe accept Ukrainian refugees. Mosques were opened for round-the-clock stay of people. And the Central Council of Muslims in Germany called on religious organizations to support them.

"We are praying for you and for everyone. We are confident that God will bring peace to your land and give hope to those who are in despair. As Muslims, we are obliged to accept refugees, regardless of their origin and religion," said Ayman Mazek, chairman of the organization.

Khadija Sophie, an Afghan who settled in Ukraine last year, was finally able to rest in a Berlin mosque after a week on the road. “Now I feel safe because we met good people, Muslims, our friends,” she told TRT World. The family had to flee in an emergency, taking with them only documents, pets and essentials. “We only took some clothes, documents, a parrot and two cats,” she said.

The Union of Islamic Communities of Italy also appealed to the country's Islamic organizations to provide all possible assistance to refugees. “Our religious values ​​are that respect for human life must be confirmed by concrete actions,” the Union said in a statement. In response to the call, Muslim communities around the country began to collect food and medicine for people arriving in their city.
