“Experts have assessed the clinical course, the features of the clinical course. It has been found that this strain spreads much faster. Children are more often involved in the infectious process, ”added the head of the department.

Murashko also said that the symptoms of the omicron strain of the coronavirus are similar to those of the flu.

The new strain COVID-19 B.1.1.529 (omicron) was discovered in November in southern Africa. According to the WHO, at present, omicron has already been identified in 110 countries. In Russia, the first cases of omicron infection became known on December 6.
